The UCLA Institute for Society and Genetics의 교수다.

  • De Chadarevian, S. (2002). Designs for life: Molecular biology after World War II. Cambridge University Press.
  • De Chadarevian, S., & Kamminga, H. (2003). Molecularizing Biology and Medicine: New Practices and Alliances, 1920s to 1970s. Taylor & Francis.

  • De Chadarevian, S., & Hopwood, N. (2004). Models: the third dimension of science. Stanford University Press.

De Chadarevian, S. (1997). Using interviews to write the history of science. The historiography of contemporary science and technology, 4, 51.

This is always an issue: do you need to have a science background when you work in the history of science, or don’t you? I think either is possible, but for me it has been a big advantage that I had science background. First, it was easier that I didn’t have to learn the science, but also I personally think it is difficult to write the kind of things I write without having been in the lab, without having an idea of what it means to do science. And when you interview scientists, they talk to you in a very different way if they know that you understand what they say. I think they respect you more. I think it has been crucial that I have a science degree.

“Claude Bernard and Animal Chemistry,” (1974); “Lavoisier and the Chemistry of Life,” (1985); “Hans Krebs: The Formation of a Scientific Life, 1900-1933,” (1991); “Hans Krebs: Architect of Intermediary Metabolism, 1933-1937,” (1993); “Antoine Lavoisier The Next Crucial Year: Or, The Sources of His Quantitative Method in Chemistry,” (1997); and “Meselsohn, Stahl, and the Replication of DNA: A History of The Most Beautiful Experiment in Biology” (2001)
